February 1904: Diary Saturday – Blouses to be Altered

Here are two or three blouses lying beside me to be altered — flimsy things made for the last summer, which failed us. Either my body or my mind, or both, are bad to fit; for no other pair of hands but my own can make me a blouse or a bodice ready to put on without some alteration.

I have been thinking that it would be sensible to get all my summer sewing done in the slack season before the “kye begin tae ca’ “and it is time to “fecht” with broody hens and the setting of eggs.
