Crooked Dealing at the Hiring – July 1903

It is becoming less and less the custom for hiring to be done at fairs. Most people prefer to engage privately although one has just as good a chance of meeting with a suitable girl from among the strangers at the fair as from private enquiry or advertisement. The demand is greater than the supply and we cannot remedy that.
